Week 1: Bordeaux

Here I am finally at my first destination, ready for some adventure!

I will describe my stay with some pictures and highlights. Please take good note of the following: I consider highlights all moments when I really feel alive! They could be very pleasant or very unpleasant. They are moments of pure emotion that give life its spice and beauty.

  • Wandering through the streets of Bordeaux on foot and by bicycle and discovering the city;
  • Playing handpan in a church;
  • Being told not to play handpan in the church;
  • Finding a beautiful yoga studio, Satnam Club, and practising there;
  • Blogging with a cup of Cappuccino with oat milk;
  • Meeting friendly and inspiring people: Florent, Marie-Anne, Paul & Clémence;
  • Discovering that the bio-hazard symbol on the Covid isolation center is actually the coat of arms of Bordeaux;
  • Watching the football Euro2020 eight final France versus Switzerland (3-3, Switzerland wins after overtime and penalty shootout) as the only Swiss guy in a bar full of tense French people. I eventually risk telling my table neighbours that I am Swiss, which they don’t find funny at first. I then offer them a beer and we have a really good chat. They end up being really friendly;
  • At the end of the game, receiving the message “Run Damien, run!” from a dear friend who knows where I am;
  • Not being accepted in a personal development seminar I want to assist in because it is already sold out;
  • Seeing someone’s heart break after I tell her that I can’t reciprocate her romantic feelings;
  • As a result, having to let go of a connection I deeply care about, one of the most honest and pure I have ever built. I hope that with time we will be able to get in touch again…
