Week 2: Arcachon and Bayonne

Here are my highlights, my moments of pure emotion. They were either pleasant or unpleasant and definitely made me feel alive!

  • Riding my bicycle along the shore in Arcachon;
  • Meeting Lotta, Carmen and Luki, a Swiss family, and being invited for some coffee and having a wonderful inspiring discussion with them;
  • Hiking up and around la Dune du Pilat;
  • Using my coin to decide where to go next on my journey: España!
  • Playing handpan at sunset at the waterfront;
  • Walking around Bayonne, feeling absolutely comfortable there and deciding to stay for at least 2 weeks;
  • Spending an evening with Julien and Borja (locals I met at a bar) and one with Marine (local I met at a yoga class) with deep, sometimes emotional discussions;
  • Going to the theatre and watching a play with real actors in a crowded room;
  • Meeting Clément (works on a farm where incarcerated women get ready to start a new life in society), Yann (juggler and yoga teacher) and Laurent (describes himself as an alcoholic and conspirator) and having interesting discussions with them about society and life;
  • Being in a crowded bar without having to wear a face mask;
  • Reconnecting with my dear friend and clearing misunderstandings after last week.

And here are things I’m excited about that might happen soon:

  • Having my first Spanish lesson;
  • Playing handpan at a café;
  • Going surfing;
